From designing awesome training sessions to busting out the forklift moves, they're the safety champions who make sure everyone's protected and having a blast while they're at it.The Safety (EHS) Specialist will be responsible for the day-to-day safety duties and programs to ensure a positive, safe, healthy, and incident-free workplace. This position will administer all safety programs, including creating associate training, OSHA compliance, forklift training, and maintaining safety metrics.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary.Directs the environmental, health, and safety programs for the siteCollaborates with the operations team to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies, procedures, and programsCreates, maintains, and enforces policies, processes, and regulationsLeads incident investigations and root cause analysis to identify underlying causes of safety incidents and implement measures to prevent recurrenceLeads Safety Committee and maintains meeting minutes and objectivesDevelops and conducts employee training on applicable safety standards utilizing in-person, online, and learning management systemsCreates safety communications, including regular safety posts, communication screen topics, toolbox talks, and other safety remindersCoordinates and conducts inspections, audits, and assessments for safety performance and complianceAssists with tracking and reporting claims to the insurance carrierMaintains OSHA, DNR, and other legal recordkeeping and requirementsPartners with Human Resources to coordinate return-to-work and light-duty assignments for employees with restrictionsEnsures accurate preparation of safety reporting and metrics including compiling, maintaining, analyzing, and presenting dataPerforms ergonomic and safety assessmentsChampions a culture of safety excellence by fostering open communication, promoting safety awareness, and recognizing and rewarding safety achievementsWill perform additional responsibilities when requiredRequirements:What Youll Bring:BA/BS in Safety, Environmental Health & safety field and/or equivalent years of experience1-3 years experience in a safety or environmental health and safety role requiredBasic workers compensation and insurance (property & casualty, equipment) knowledgeUnderstanding of behavior-based safety principlesMaintains confidentiality of proprietary informationAbility to maintain a professional atmosphere in a fast-paced environment with numerous interactions and interruptionsExcellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels of the organizationAbility to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with team members and colleaguesMay be required to flex hours to support all areas of the businessA high degree of initiative, self-motivation, and ability to motivate othersAbility to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with Team Members and colleaguesComfortable with office pets (cats, dogs)Not Required but Nice to Have!Experience in manufacturing and distribution environmentsExperience with 5S and other Lean toolsBenefits & Perks:Join a tenacious, inventive company that empowers team members to chart their own path, lead by grounding decisions in the why, and has a strong sense of empathy and openness to new perspectives.
